Beginning in February, Chapel Hill seniors can get free tax help.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a free tax service for low to middle-income clients of any age. Hospital and home visits can also be arranged for the homebound elderly or disabled.
Tax situations that are complex may be referred to the IRS. Trained tax volunteers will prepare computerized federal and state tax returns. Returns are filed electronically at no charge.
Volunteers are trained according to IRS and NC guidelines.
Appointments are being taken now. Spanish speaking clients can call 245-2010 for appointments. Check this website for income and eligibility and what to bring to the site.
